Local education provider Covenant College has attracted a record number of students to its Trade Skills Centre in 2020.
The Trade Skills Centre offers Certificate II courses in Horticulture, Agriculture and Animal Studies for senior students in years 11 and 12.
Students from Covenant College and 11 other schools in the region attended the Trade Skills Centre this year.
With a practical, hands-on focus, including on site experience at local farming and veterinary businesses, the courses are designed to engage students while they develop the necessary skills and knowledge for careers in the horticulture, agriculture and animal studies industries.
It’s an educational philosophy that gets results, with five students winning awards and scholarships through the Geelong Community Foundation in 2020. Additionally, Covenant College students won awards at the 2019 Melbourne and Geelong Shows with poultry and egg entries.
Enrolments are now open for 2021 courses.
