New project supports collaboration for farmers

The Business Council of Co-operatives and Mutuals (BCCM) has launched a co-operative farming project to support new and developing farming co-operatives

Funded under the Australian Government’s Starting Farm Co-operatives Program, BCCM’s project will include:

  • A telephone advice hotline available Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm. Farmers, fishers and foresters that want to find out more about co-operatives can call the hotline on 1300 665 174 to discuss their needs and get advice about resources available to support them.

  • Mentoring from experienced farm co-op operators

  • Financial support through educational bursaries

  • An interactive educational website

The project will deliver education, advice and support to farmers, fishers and foresters to help them to establish and grow farm co-operatives and other collaborative business models.
