As a home-based manufacturer and wholesaler, the company focuses on being the best small batch manufacturer. Farm gate sales are by appointment only and most marketing is word of mouth, with minimal trade shows and no advertising. The bulk of the product is currently sold in stores.
In 2018, the company won a silver medal for its Raspberry Preserve and a bronze for the Tomato Relish at the Australian Food Awards. The business is currently going through major changes, including a branding update, new innovative product development, website makeover and a distribution push into new markets across Australia.

“Pennyroyal Farm Otway Preserves has been operating successfully for more than 25 years. When we purchased the business from the Gilbert family 16 years ago, we strategically relocated the business to our small farm in Fyansford to take advantage of the proximity to the Melbourne market.We’ve been supplying over 100 products throughout the G21 region and we are one of very few large suppliers that still manufacture in small batches to ensure maximum flavour and nutritional value. All our fruit is of the highest quality, sourced from Australian farms and we have excellent relationships with our suppliers.We always look to support Australian businesses and take great pride in ensuring the very best products. We continually get positive customer feedback about the quality of our products.”
