2019 powercor country festival

13th May, 2019

The Farmers Market at the 2019 Powercor Country Festival proved to be the biggest drawcard of the day. According to vendors who took part, their attendance at the market far exceeded expectations and provided a unique opportunity to reach a new and diverse customer base.

The Powercor Country Festival is an annual celebration of the powerful and positive impacts afforded by football in regional and rural communities.

The Agri Collective and 50 regional Victorian based businesses supported the event, held in May 2019, where the Geelong and Essendon Football Clubs provided fans from both teams the opportunity to visit the Yarra Park precinct.

The precinct was transformed to incorporate a wide variety of special country-themed activities including an animal farm, CFA displays, tractor and machinery demonstrations, celebrity appearances, musical performances and sheep shearing.

The Farmers Market drew 22,000 spectators, roughly one-third of total game attendees. Delighted visitors took part in conversations with vendors, tried food and beverage samples and made purchases of the best quality produce from regional and rural Victoria.

The Powercor Country Festival was once again a resounding success, with spectator numbers increasing by over 13,000 from 50,000 in 2018.

Special mention was made by AFL great Kevin Sheedy and Geelong Cats President Colin Carter who both praised the efforts of the Farmers Market in helping to positively shape the Festival.
